It is nice your family will have brunch with you as that will lift your spirits. I have a good recipe for a breakfast casserole but it is a little late now to get it to you. My husband and me spent Christmas with just the two of us and I was feeling a bit sorry for myself when seeing all the Christmas posts of family gatherings but after reading your post. I know how much I have to be thankful for. We must never take life for granted as it can change in the twinkling of an eye.
May God continue to be with you and keep you cancer away. I have an elderly friend (who now lives five hours away) that I so enjoyed spending the times together when she needed to see the doctor and get her errands done. It was so much more enjoyable for the two of us to do it together. I pray God will provide for you a loving lady friend who will be there for you.

I'm finding the grieving process is long and sporadic. My 43 year old son who had many health challenges for over 20 years passed away suddenly and unexpectedly in June this year. Because of his health problems we were always very close -- with him, too, I did a lot of doctor visits and shopping to give him some assistance so he could save his strength for some things he would like to do. I not only lost a son, I lost a friend. I'm sure you feel somewhat the same about the loss of your husband. Thankfully God walks with me every day as I'm sure He does with you and He helps in handling both the sense of loss and the loneliness. My prayer is for you -- and for me -- to find the comfort we seek in His presence. Take care ... I'm so sorry about your disabilities, you have been so strong and valiant to overcome the cancer. And it's such a short time since your bereavement. I hope there are some moments of laughter, at least, this Christmas.

I had a party for 24 last week, a retirement party for the Principal at my school. I served two casseroles: chicken in tomato, pesto and cream; and goulash, flavoured with caraway and paprika; and a whole ham, with a vegetable chilli bean casserole for the vegetarians. All were enjoyed. I love to cook and hope that your Christmas breakfast goes well.

Loving thoughts from England, Zoë xxxAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08393020174542656860noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-799719900559153470.post-48438484729498575922013-12-23T06:08:23.314-06:002013-12-23T06:08:23.314-06:00Deena, You have been on my heart. Having cared for both of our mothers since the deaths of our dads I am familiar with the aching loneliness that they have endured. I assure you I am not telling you I know how you feel...I do not. As I have not directly walked in those shoes...but I have observed and know that it is heartbreaking. You are so dear and I pray that God will bring you a friend who is dedicated to being there for you in transportation, technology and an ever listening ear. Hugs. May your Christmas be as merry as it can possibly be. Enjoy the grandchildren.
