My Brain Surgery is Over

It's been a long  time. I had surgery on november 21.
I had three different procedures.  Three different operation
rooms. I wasn't aware of anything on Monday 11/21, I was aware of
of a couple of things on Tuesday 11/22 and by Wednesday ...I was able to go home .

I got the staples out on December 1st, and I will get a check up on
December 21st.  I hope by Christmas all will be better.

If she is unable to blog but someone in the family, or a close friend, is reading these comments, could you please just let us know how Deena is doing these days. It would mean so much to so many people who have been her blog friends for such a long time. We really do care and are hoping someone can post asap.

I fear the worst, and feel so badly for Deena, she was so sweet and so courageous.

    ReplyDelete
  66. All - I haven't heard anything yet and there is no update here. I'll be sure to tell everyone if I get anything in response to my snail mail. They should have gotten it Wednesday. Since Deena didn't update the blog after receiving the mail at her house, I'm beginning to think that it might be bad news indeed. I know we'll all be very sad if this is the case. I just don't understand it though. This surgery was going to take of the last bit of things and she made it home and updated after the surgery. I just can't imagine what has gone wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  67. I've been told that she has posted on Facebook a couple of times. I don't know what the posts said or any of the details though. At least knowing that she's been on Facebook sounds positive.

    Take Care, Sonja

  68. Yesterday I saw a comment on Facebook, on Harry Connick Jr.'s wall from last Wednesday, that seemed to be from Deena. Maybe she is just too tired or busy to post here. So many people love her, though--and we all hope she is doing ok.

    ReplyDelete
  69. A while back if you remember she posted that she had trouble remembering her login and password - maybe it is just that for this site.

    ReplyDelete
  70. But Deena could still leave a comment here telling people where to find her now, if it was just a case of a forgotten log-in.

Does anyone have her Facebook address?

  80. Nothing yet, everyone. If they respond via snail mail and did it the day they got the mail, I should have received something yesterday. So, I'll keep checking the mail every day. Based on the USPS estimate, they should have gotten my snail mail on last Wed, no later than Thurs.

  85. All - I heard nothing back from my snail mail either. I also sent a message on FB and received no reply.

She is clearly okay since she is posting stuff on FB and active, so that is what we should walk away with.

None of us know why she simply stopped posting, didn't say goodbye or just end the blog...especially at such a crucial time when we were all rooting for her. I don't think it is important though. She's okay. That's enough.

It's been an interesting few years following this, but as Deena has moved on...I am too! Be in good health all! - Christy

  90. Hey all ... ok the facebook page doesnt make sense and it could be possible that someone else is using her page .. or someone stole her page ... as there was an odd recommendation for an attorney and all it said was I have been ill with cancer ... (so that does not sound like something she would do) sounded more like a kid ... anyhow ... I had gotten a card from her back in December some time ... haven heard from her since ... I think I know of a way I can get in touch with her ... i am a bit concerned too ... lets say prayers that all is well ~ JO ~ At least no matter what she does know that we all love her ...

  95. Ok Sonia ... I found her page and the only thing on it is a pic of some shoes ... I had to go in through her comment on Harry Conick jrs page ...

I am not convinced it is Deena ... anyone can steal a photo from a blog and start a facebook page ... I saw a recommendation that she wrote about an attorney ... it said and I quote "I have been ill with cancer" ... no recommendation ...that does NOT sound like her ... I dont think Deena would do that and I also do not believe she would not have someone let us know she is ok ... she is not like that ... she would not let everyone worry to this extent .... also Sonia ... could you tell us what the posts say and what exactly the link says? I do not get why she would post a link to this blog when she has not been on here? As someone stated she could write a comment and let us know something ...if she has indeed lost her password ... sorry but it just does not make any sense ...

    ReplyDelete
  96. Upon reflection, and with regret, I must agree with Jo from Neereandear: none of this sounds/seems like the Deena we have come to know over the past four years. This blog, and the friendships she made through it, were of immense importance to her; there is no way Deena would just “move on” and leave us wondering and worried, if she could help it.

One of the most baffling aspects of this prolonged silence is the fact that neither Deena’s good friends (Sally, Marcia or Church) nor her family (Rich or the three children, Steve, Nicole or Mercedes) have added a comment to update us, although they were all aware of her blog and must know how Deena felt about it. It makes me fear that the news must, indeed, be bad.

    1. Lets not think the worst ... lets think positive and send positive vibes ... I am with you that a family member or one of her friends would let us know something ... they did all know about the blog and did know how much it meant to her and how much those of us who followed her ... loved her ... they dont have to give us any personal information just something so we are all not worrying about her ... ~ JO

  97. To all who are wondering about sweet Denna. I found this in her SweetAnnee Esty shop. Maybe you'll have seen this.

    http://www.etsy.com/shop/SweetAnnee

I too have checking on her blog nearly everyday for an update I found this and though one of you might send an email to her with Esty.

I do feel she is not remembering this blog or cannot get into it as she once did. I'm still holding her up in prayer.

    http://www.etsy.com/shop/SweetAnnee

This will open her shop on Esty and a item was loaded into it on Jan 26, 2012 I know it is her kind of handwork. Hopefully she will answer some one if she is trying to start selling again.

  98. Judy ... thank you ... it is a start at least ... I do know that she cant remember her password to this blog ... however even a family member could put a comment in here to let us know that she is doing alright ... I have one more way to contact her ... not sure I will get an answer but you never know ... I too will continue to pray for her ... and pray we all at least get an answer that she is where she wants to be right now .... My last known contact from her was in December ... I got a note from her ... I did write back however and have not received anything since ... so lets all just think positive ... send positive vibes and maybe we will get some kind of answer ...DEENA WE LOVE YOU ~~~ HUGS TO ALL ~ JO

  104. Sonja ... do you not find it odd that in the same sentence that she says "hoping to get some of my brain back" she uses verbage such as ... The Science Behind Lumosity? pretty big words ... what does that mean? seems that one who is struggling would not use such words ... and if she remembers the blog link (which could be taken off of google or this page itself) ... I still find it odd that she wont post a comment on the very same blog to let people know what is what .... I will stop short of saying its not her but ...will say I am not convinced ...its going to take something that I know is really Deena before that happens ... I also do not feel her family does not know this page is important when she has talked about them to us and us to them ... many have followed her struggle with breast cancer ... dont buy it... we shall see ...only time will tell

    ReplyDelete
  105. Guess I'm just overly optimistic that it is her....maybe I'm trying to convince myself that she is recovering and doing well.

    ReplyDelete
  106. Nothing wrong with being overly optimistic ... I will admit I am very confused about it ... I shall therefore be "cautiously" optimistic ...

  107. Hi everyone ... ok ... I left a message on Harry Conick Jrs facebook page under Deenas post asking her to let everyone on the blog know she is ok ... I happened to check my "other" messages on facebook today for some reason ... about 18 hours ago ... I got a message from Deena telling me that she cant get into her blogspot ... thats all it said "I cant get into my blogspot" ... if anyone else has left her a private message on facebook check your "other" folder .... if you get anything can you let us know? Its still not enough to convince me of anything as it was so short and to the point ... but I am a bit more hopeful .... I sent her a message back asking her or her family to post a comment on here ... we shall see ... keep fingers crossed !!

  108. Her personal email is bouncing as well........has anyone heard anything via snail mail? Thanks.

  109. Hi Everyone,
I feel a little better after reading your post NeereAnDear. But I am a little confused. It seems Deena has a problem getting into her blog? Is this a memory problem she is having due to the last brain surgery that she had? I'm just wondering what really is going on. You would just think someone out there, friend or family would run into all of the messages we have been leaving. It's very frustrating. Thank all of you for keeping up the good work! Hopefully we will hear something soon that will let us all know exactly what is going on and how Deena is really doing! I have been following her for many years and she is such a lovely person.
    Take care all!
    Darlene

    ReplyDelete
  110. Hi Darlene,

I believe at one time Deena posted here or told me that she can not remember her password ... I have done this before ... but I too feel like you that her family or someone would write in the comments section and let us all know ... so we are all confused at the moment ... I only hope that one of us here gets some kind of a good sign ... something that "I" know would be from Deena for sure ... the last known note I got from her was back in November ... and her phone number is no longer so I can not reach her that way ... her facebook page does not make sense ... odd bits here and there but nothing that would really make me thing it is her ... and her last message to me in my "other" box ... was too short ... so I dont know ... I keep hoping beyond hope that someone can give us a heads up on it all ... Just keep praying and sending positive vibes that we all get some answers soon .. hugs to everyone ... so glad she has such wonderful friends who care ... JO

    ReplyDelete
  111. Thank you for the reply Jo. Yes, you are right, we should just continue to send Deena our love and positive vibes! Have you sent mail addressed to her husband? I thought if he received a letter directed to him, maybe he would let us all know what is going on. But maybe you have tried this already, as I know mail was sent to her home address. I guesss all we can do is wait, as frustrating as that is at this time!
    Take care all,
    Darlene

  112. I was considering doing that ... might be the only way we can get answers ... but I had sent her a card in December with a long note ... never heard anything back ... its our only other option I guess ... JO

  114. My guess is that Deena has had some brain damage that has prevented her from even commenting, and no wonder after all the poor thing has been through in the last few years, all the medications and treatments and... well, it is just very sad.

It is NOT like Deena to play games or not respond, so I can only think that she can't.

I don't believe the Facebook page is her.

She was so warm and loved her blog friends. This behavior makes no sense unless she simply cannot reach out and the situation is very bad, or she has passed away.

Very very odd none of her close friends who know her in 'real' day to day life has left any messages here letting us who all care about her know. Cruel even.

No answer to mail? Phone number disconnected? Those aren't good signs.

That is one of the most difficult things about a blog with someone who is facing an illness. We all get emotionally involved and root for them to get better.

Asking someone close to you to leave a message on your blog if the worst happens is really helpful, only because there is an ending, and not just an ongoing worry.

Bless you, dear Deena, wherever your Spirit is.

  115. Hello Ladies!
Yes Cinderella, I agree with everything you said. It is rather cruel to all of us who have followed her for all of these years to not be imformed about Deenas situation at this time. I just took the bull by the horns and wrote a note to her hubby Rich. I told him how worried we all are and that if he could please somehow let us know how Deena is doing. So we'll see what happens. If I do hear back, I will immediately let all of you know, as he has my email and home address.
    Take care all!

    1. Thank you, Darlene, I really appreciate it, and I am sure many others are grateful that you are able to reach out to Rich to find out about Deena as well.

  116. I do hope there is some news soon. I was ill last year and unable to keep up with blogging and was so worried to find recently that nothing has been heard of Deena since before Christmas. I have followed her for nearly three years, such a lovely, sweet person. I am sure she wouldn't want to worry us which of course makes it even more worrying.

I shall check back each day (as I have been) and hope there will be some good news very soon.

    ReplyDelete
  117. I just don't understand it. She has talked about best friends in the past and they surely know her blogspot and how she liked to keep up with her online friends. I wish they would take some time and tell us how she is. We don't need paragraph after paragraph just a short note about her.

    ReplyDelete
  118. I sent a snail mail to her address a month ago and never heard anything. Hope someone has better luck.

    ReplyDelete
  119. I too have sent several notes to her house via snail mail ... one was answered ... I had sent a package ... the last one after that was not ... lets hope some news soon .. ~ JO

    ReplyDelete
  120. You know, this may be a last resort - but if someone has her home address - you COULD call the local police department and ask for them to make a welfare check on her.

Say you have not heard from her and you are worried, it isn't like her. Tried to call, no answer, etc.

They usually will go by the house and try to make contact - and if they find someone at home, often you can call back - or they will call you back - and let you know if she is okay. Or not.

Just a thought. I'd do it myself if I had her address.

  121. Deena used to always answer my emails. I got one right before her surgery in December. It didnt sound like her at all. I feel she did have some behavior changes due to her tumors. She may not remember she had a blog. I think we should just pray for her everyday and send loving thoughts. We will find out something I feel it...I know how frustrating and worrisome this all is to every one that has followed this sweet lady...Has anyone thought of calling the house??? Is the family unlisted?? I know its kinda forward, but we may find something out that way. Just a thought. Jackie

  122. Ok ... I sent Deena a package in November .. got a note back from her ... she said she has problems remembering her password to this blog ... I sent her a card in December ... have heard nothing since ... I called her house the number is disconnected ... this is not like Deena and it is not like one of her good friends to not come on here with some kind of message to let us know what is going on ... I think the welfare check might be a good idea ...

    ReplyDelete
  123. Though I will say this ... I am not sure how we would explain to the police who we are and why we are doing the check ... they may not be willing to do that ... if anyone could come up with any other ideas ... keep praying we get an answer soon ... also I know the facebook page ... everything on there was actually posted word for word from one of her other blogs ... its not her

Deena A Warner (Deena Cleaver) ...nothing comes up ... I found a comment she made on Harry Conick Jrs page ... and thats how I found the actual page .... Good luck ... if anyone hears anything let us know ...

  127. Oh that explains it NeereAnDear. I tried going on FB and was unable to find our Deena Warner anywhere! Well, I guess we're just stuck waiting. What else can we do? I sent a letter to Deena's husband several days ago and haven't heard anything back. Just send our love and prayers her way!

  128. I am keeping my fingers crossed ... I sent a package to her back in November so I may go ahead and write him a small note too ... he will remember what it was since it was for the house ... he may not write if he isnt sure who anyone is ... one can only hope we will get a response somehow ... thanks for doing that Darlene ....

  129. I did some searching on peoplefinders.com and am going to try to send Rich an e-mail and as well call the three different phone number that are listed for them.
If there is no answer, I will also send a letter to their home fed ex signature required and see if I can get a response.
Anything I find out, I will post a comment here.

  130. I just called the Chillicothe police department and asked them to do a welfare check on the last address I had on Curtis Drive. They were VERY nice, and said they would send a deputy over to check on her, and then would call me back and let me know.

All three of the phone numbers that I had for her have been disconnected.

I also just tried sending an e-mail to Rich. Hope that the e-mail address is current/correct.

If the Curtis address is wrong - please can someone let me know what the correct one is - and I let the deputy know.

Will keep everyone posted. We ought to be able to find out something now, one way or the other.

    1. The deputy went to the door, and she is home and came to the phone and spoke with me!:)

She is fine, she said she is doing better.

She said she cannot remember her blog password, so couldn't post.

She had her old phone numbers disconnected, but she gave me her new cell phone number 309 397-2238 and said it was okay for people to call, and also her e-mail : rosegardener55@yahoo.com

What a relief! She sounded shaky but good. And I told her everyone was worried and sent their loving thoughts.

  132. Thank God we have heard something. Bless her little heart. I'm not sure her # should be posted on the net like this. Perhaps we need to rethink this. Who knows what crank calls she could get.
    Thanks "Cinderella".

  133. Thank you so much for taking that huge step! So glad you talked to her. Has she been to the blog and seen all the comments? I'm very surprised her family didn't take the time to make a comment just to ease the fears of those who took this trek with her for the last several years.

    Anyway...

So glad to know she is home and well. This is a strong lesson to all of us here to WRITE down our information and be sure our family's know what to do for us just in case.

    ReplyDelete
  134. I did worry about posting the info., but I hope that the only people who come here are those who love Deena.

I asked Deena her permission to do so, and truly hope all will be okay and that people respect the info. and only use it for good if they know her and want to be in contact again.

I also cannot erase it, or I would. Thanks for making me worry! Was your intention to make me feel bad? It worked.

Deena did not sound to me like she is going to start another blog. I think perhaps it is a bit complicated for her right now.
I told her that she could leave a comment herself - or even start a new blog and have traffic redirected from this blog to her new one, but I go the feeling that was too involved.

She was touched that people cared and I think it made her feel good.

Glad we have news, and I am glad to have taken the initiative -- and so VERY thankful to that kind deputy who made the welfare check!

Yes, it IS a lesson to all of su to have our passwords and log-ins stored somewhere safe where it can be easily be retrieved later by a family member or friend.

Rich has as of yet not responded to my e-mails so the address I had for him may not be correct.

Just because we online are 'cyber-friends' doesn't mean the friendships aren't real or true or meaningful.

Again another lesson to all of us to make sure if anything happens to us, we have a friend who lets our other blog friends know what is going on.Not knowing causes so much worry and concern, and just a minute or two of thoughfulness on someone else's part can ease that.

Continuing to send loving, healing thoughts Deena's way:)

  135. Thank you Cinderella! So glad you had a duputy go right to Deenas door, so we know firsthand now she is doing as ok as she can after everything she has been through! Don't worry about posting the information that you did. I feel people that go to these comments are ones that have followed Deena for years and truly care about her! Again, thank you so much! And keep us posted if you have any additional information in the future.
    Hugs to you!

  139. Hi all ... I spoke with Deena at great length today and now I understand why she has had so much trouble with her blog ... I will explain in a minute ... first off ... she said to thank everyone who has taken the time to write ... she is well ... she has lost some eyesight which is keeping her from driving but is taking that in stride ... her Dr appointments are much less than they used to be so she is quite happy about that ... she sounded good ... really good ... tires easily which is understandable ... the facebook page ... is indeed hers ... now on to the blog ... the reason for all the trouble is that Deenas blog is connected to her website ... its not so much that she lost the password as it is that she lost her customized website when she had her surgery ... it expired ... so because she does not have the website she does not have a way to connect to the blog from the back end ... this is why she has been unable to post ... she also tried to leave a comment as an anonymous guest ... however google is not letting that happen either ...... she was amazed that so many people care for her and she felt so bad that she couldnt get on here and let anyone know she was ok ...it frustrated her as much as it did us ... she is trying to regain her website back ... if not she is planning on starting a new blog and direct this blog to that one ... her email also was customized which is why that is gone also .... but is doing what she can to get it all straightened out .... she said it may take a while and to let you all know and says she is blessed that she has so many wonderful friends ... HUGS ALL ~ JO

  140. What great news to know Deena is doing OK. Thank you Cinderella, your efforts to communicate paid off and you are to be commend for taking the bull by the horns!

NeereAnDeer, many thanks for filling us in on the status of the blog and sharing your conversation with sweet Deena. I'm so happy to know she knows we care and think about her daily. Hopefully she'll regain her blog or be able to start another one soon.

I've done what many suggest, leaving info. on accessing my blog with my husband - of course I forgot that if anything happened to us both during our travels that won't work! Will also leave info. where my family can find it and request they do the same if necessary.
This blogging world is so special and the friends I've made in the past 5 years are very dear to me. I would always want them to know if anything happens down he road!

Hugs to all here - Mary (A Breath of Fresh Air)

    Deena - we love you.

  142. Mary Mar and NeereanDear,
    You are welcome:)
Deena gave/gives so much love and kindess - it was very nice to return it in a small way by letting her know how much she matters!

How frustrating to be shut out of your own blog! I write all my passwords down somewhere, now because I rarely remember them, and that could happen all too easily to me too with google or blogger or facebook!

Glad that Deena is reading all these comments, and VERY glad she is alive and doing well.
Many many many hugs, dear Deena:)

  149. Yes, such wonderful news about Deena! Hi Deena!

And such great detective work Cinderella....very gutsy to call the police. :o) That was very kind of them to go out there.

Anyway, just like everyone, I am so glad to hear all is well and that we can all breathe a little easier now.

Good luck Deena with your website situation. Hope you get that sorted out.

Take care and lots of continued healing wishes.

  150. Hi all .... this is a previous post that seems to have been deleted ... supposedly by me... however I only deleted one post and that was today and had nothing to do with anything so I am checking to see if this one actually posts or something happens to it ....

I need to clear up a misconception ... Deena did not forget her password ... Deena had a customized website with a domain name ... her blog was connected to her website as was her email ... google account etc ... the website expired while she was having surgery ... because it expired .. she had no way to access the blog as it was directly linked ... she also tried to leave a comment on here anonymously but google wouldnt let her do it ... she will have to sign up for a new google account first so she may just go ahead and do that and start a new blog .. hope this makes a bit more sense as to why she had so much trouble .. hugs all ~ JO
