A Sorrowful Day

Yesterday 9/11/2010
my sweet great niece, Lexie, only 10 years old
lost her you her almost lifetime fight with
cancer and passed way.

She was such a sweet , strong fighter and most
always active and happy.

My hubby was on his cell with his
friend who knows Lexie, most folks in
Chillicothe did.

I heard his friend, say Lexie ( his voice comes over
the phone quite clearly) & I knew immediately ...I just sobbed
& sobbed .

I confess I even said

"Oh no, God, why not me ? I am 55 & she is a tender age of
1o . Why God?? it's not fair, Why??

Rich's face fell, he said "dont
say that"

I recentlly put a little framed on prominent display
later, I sat down & it was right in front of my

Everything happens for a reason. Just believe

I do believe & who am I to question our Lord.
I guess God has more plans for me (& everyone)

Lexie is with God now. She is estatic & total healed.

please pray for the family & all who loved Lexie
in time of sorrow & grief

  1. My Sweet Friend Deena,
I will put Lexie's Family in my prayers. What a sorrowful day as you said.
And yes, I agree with you 100% as both you and I have questioned God and asked him, why the little ones, why not take me. I belive sometimes it's what they call survivors guilt. And it happens more than anyone wants to talk about. Both you and I know that for sure.
When things like this happen, I have to remember one of my favorite Psalms, "Be still, and know that I am God" (Psalm 46:10)
    Love you bunches, Amy

  4. So sorry to hear this, Deena. I just posted recently about trusting God, even in the dark places. It isn't always easy, especially when we watch children die, but heaven is our goal anyway, and now Lexie has reached it.

  5. Prayers for the family, but I believe with my whole heart she is a happy little girl today, free from all pain!

  6. Deena:
    I'm so sorry.

And although I understand why you questioned as you did, I so agree with Rich and your perspective to just trust that our Lord has His reasons.

Reading this was very timely for me as I just scolded my 10 year old quite harshly for something really not justifying such a response. I was already second-guessing myself when I read your post. As soon as I send off this comment, I am going to go squeeze her as tight as she'll let me, and just thank God for every bit of her.

Love and prayers to you, Rich, and Lexie's family.

  7. Oh sweet friend, I am so sorry. It's so hard to understand why some struggle more than others and why some leave this earth WAY too soon, but we are not to ask why. God is in control. We are in His hands. I'm sure little Lexie is happy and wants everyone to know she is in a far better place...and that you will see her again.

    Big hugs,
    Kat

  11. Deena, I am so sorry to hear about your little niece. Another Mother's heart is broken today, but God will mend it. I will pray for family and for you. I have said the same thing many times, as I would rather live in pain the rest of my life than to see a young child die. But God has a plan for each of us and He won't take us home until our job here on Earth is done. Bless you. Love and hugs, Pat

  18. Dear Deena, I am so sorry for the family's loss of that bright sunshine child. We mourn for ourselves, because we will miss our beloved. But for our beloved, their tears will all be wiped away, neither will there be sickness or death any longer.

  20. Sweet Deena... I am so sorry for the loss of your niece... I know how difficult it can be at times to understand the "why"... especially when it comes to such a youg life...
Before my younger sister passed away last year she kept telling me to read a book called "The Shack"... It has changed my life and my way of thinking... I recommend it for everyone... especially those dealing with grief... it gives you answers and many aha moments that you never thought you would have...

You and the family of your niece are in my prayers ...

I did want to say you look so gorgeous in the photo below ...

    LOTS OF HUGS
