The Power of Prayer

My little office is warm and sunny!!

Today was my follow up  doctors appt from two weeks ago.
 I GAINED about 4 oz.
I've stopped throwing up and I am not near as tired .
Thank you all for your prayers!!

I drove HOME from the doctors. First time I've driven
in almost 6 months.. ANOTHER MILESTONE.

I do realize that depression plays a part
in this too and
I do have a psychiatrist and have some meds, I knew I needed that
in the beginning.

  5. VERY good news on a chilly day.
I'm glad your coming along and think of it as the winter going away and spring time coming....sickness and such going away and new life...new growth....appetite and hair that is ~ HA!
A while back I gave your site to a friend of mine who had just be diagnosed with breast cancer. It engouraged her so much.
She has had a battle along the way but it hasn't been as intense as yours has been.
She just got the "ALL CLEAR" word on Monday. She's thrilled.
She still has to do a few chemo treatments and some radiation. Not much though.

She said she wrote to you to tell you. I hope you got it. Not sure if it was a "comment" or an e-mail.
See what an encouragement your journey is to others??

You have shown people that "yes, you have been told you have Breast Cancer.......but you CAN make it through this!"
    It worked for my friend.
I'm so glad you have shared your story with the world.
    Hang in there Deena!
    Be blessed, Joyce

  18. Hi Deena:
So glad to read you are doing better. Doesn't it feel great to be driving again? And especially not being sick to your stomach. You sure have been through a lot over the past year. I wish you well for 2009.
My daughter's sister in law just got diagnosed on Christmas Eve and started her first round of chemo last week. She is going to have a double masectomy after her second round of chemo. It's just unreal how many women are being diagnosed with breast cancer.
I had a biopsy a few years ago and was diagnosed with lobular carcinoma in situ...which is not breast cancer, but the way I understand it, it's in the cells. I get so scared everytime I have my mammogram waiting for the results.
    Take care.

  29. Deena, you are so beautiful!

As I'm learning from my own breast cancer journey, the emotional rollercoaster of all this certainly is very difficult to deal with - so I can totally understand what you're saying. You just grow weary from dealing with the day-to-day, don't you? That's where I'm at right now.

I'm so delighted to know you are feeling better...and the hair thing? Oh my goodness, what AWESOME news! I think I have eyebrow envy, though! LOL

You remain in my thoughts and prayers. Thanks for updating!

  51. I have been praying for you Deena.

My Daddy (now retired) is a neurosurgeon and he specialized in brain tumors...so through the years I have met many of his patients who have gone through and SURVIVED what you are going through. It IS tough...but you can do it. Attack your depression whatever way you can..with prayer, therapy, meds and any good distractions...but keep your chin up and keep fighting! A strong mind will keep your body working hard to heal itself!

Now - go out and buy yourself some pony tail holders!

Have a GREAT day, and praise the Lord for your accomplishments! love, Karen

  61. Oh Deena its so good to see you smiling. I've been thinking of you. Love your peach fuzz hair...so funny you thought it was dirt!

I get devotional emails every day from my pastor and the one that came this morning made me think of you. I copied some of it for you below ~~~

God's presence is not passive. Wherever we are His hand will guide us. Whatever our situation, His hand of strength will hold us fast. Remember wherever you are today God is with you. Discouraged, depressed, devastated by life's event? God is with you. Broken-body, broken-hearted, broken-spirit? God is with you. Moving too fast, moving too slow, on hold? God matches your pace. At a crossroad wondering which way to go? Let His hand guide you. Living with fear, dread, anxiety? Let His hand of peace hold you fast. Even if you want to run from God, there is no use trying. You will always run right into His presence.

Father, comfort us with the truth of your constant presence. Thank You for the truth that you will never leave or forsake us.
    In Jesus Name.
    Amen.

Keep on pushing girl, you are going to get there soon. Do everything possible to manage your depression - and eat a little of everything you love!

We are thrilled to see you looking so marvelous. Sending love and hugs.

  82. I just found your blog, and when i read your last post I had to respond. you asked for someone "just like you" to talk to. Please - run, don't walk, so to speak, to www.bcans.org. I was a frequent poster there when I was diagnosed with breast cancer over 10 years ago. I made many lasting friends there - several of whom I have met in real life. There, you can find someone just like you, going through the same thing, as well as support, shoulders to cry on or to carry you when you need it, and lifeling friends.

I don't post there much anymore, but you can tell them SusanG sent you - the oldtimers will remember me. And my very very best wishes to you. Please feel free to email me if you would like.

I have been thru the chemo and lost my hair....I had been a "bottled" blonde (highlighted, I think we call it now) so long, that when it started growing back dark, dark brown, I just knew GOD had made a mistake. It also came back curly...which just suits me fine. Lots less worry ...just blow and go..I think of you often and pray that each day keeps getting better.
