Merry Christmas

I took a picture of how
beautiful the snow is.
I will try to get it on my

I even bought a new camera
and am hoping the grandboys will help me take
pictures of OUR gathering.

I have not posted for so long. I
think most of you know I am disabled
from my cancer.  It is hard for me
to use the Mac and I am sad about that.

My cancer is gone, but I am still under the
care of my oncologist and my neurosurgeon.
Since the loss of my husband in July has left
me in frustation .  Some days are decent
and other days find me asking God why I
am I still here and what is my purpose
on earth.  I live in a lovely , lonely home.

I am disabled and can not drive. It is hard to
have to find someone to take me to grocery store
and to the doctors every time I need to go.

I love the Lord and I pray daily. I am still
in grief and I hope that things will constantly
become better.

I feel that sharing my thoughts will help others and
that it would be a blessing to others. I have been
strong and love it when I get a call from a friend.

I have a Christmas breakfast for my grown children
and my 6 grandsons. I need to get some things
to cook. Bacon, sausage, eggs,  and I would
love to hear from you.  What are your favorites
casserole recipes.

I hope everyone has a Merry CHRISTmas and
has a BLESSED season.

and one old phrase

God bless

  1. I am SO happy to see that you have posted. I have wondered how you have been doing. I had a hysterectomy about a month ago - and they found out that I had Endometrial Cancer- and the tumor was into the wall of the uterus about 80% so I will end up having chemo and radiation. I can so understand what you have been going through- at least with the cancer. My heart goes out to you with the lose of your husband. I just hated hearing that happened to you - you had been through so much already. I am so thankful to hear that you have a close relationship with Jesus Christ. He is our Rock and our strength. I am so thankful to have Him in my life as well. May God comfort you and strengthen you and guide you day by day, Lisa :O)

  2. It's so, so good to hear from you, Deena. I wish all of your blogging friends lived close to you, we'd all take turns taking you to the store. But we don't but we support you so much.

Why don't you make your Christmas breakfast easy on yourself. An omelet or scrambled eggs with fresh fruits and Christmas breads. Eggs, milk, fruit, butter, stolen and coffee. Easy! Have a blessed Christmas, Deena. Love you, Diane

  3. It's good to hear from you, Deena! I second Diane's suggestions, scrambled eggs, fresh fruit and breads/pastries. Maybe some warm cider as well, to go with the coffee. Maybe you could ask each of your kids to bring a couple of items, and then assign the grandkids breakfast tasks when they arrive. That would get everyone involved! Continuing to pray for you~

  4. You've taught your readers so much about living a life filled with thankfulness and faith, even when things are so hard. I remember your "thankful for" posts! I know you'll continue to be an example of LIVING the faith to us. Love you, Merry Christmas friend. PS I'm glad to hear you got a new camera!

  5. Merry Holidays to you! So happy to see you are keeping your spirits up... Youre one strong woman that can definetly lead by example...stay strong, keep the faith in your heart... And most definetly if I lived closer I would love to help out with all errands....
Keep posting love hearing from you..

  6. Deena, You have been on my heart. I'm sorry I didn't come over to tell you so. Having cared for both of our mothers since the deaths of our dads I am familiar with the aching loneliness that they have endured. I assure you I am not telling you I know how you feel...I do not. As I have not directly walked in those shoes...but I have observed and know that it is heartbreaking. You are so dear and I pray that God will bring you a friend who is dedicated to being there for you in transportation, technology and an ever listening ear. Hugs. May your Christmas be as merry as it can possibly be. Enjoy the grandchildren.

  7. I'm glad you'll be with your family this Christmas, Deena. I'm so sorry about your disabilities, you have been so strong and valiant to overcome the cancer. And it's such a short time since your bereavement. I hope there are some moments of laughter, at least, this Christmas.

I had a party for 24 last week, a retirement party for the Principal at my school. I served two casseroles: chicken in tomato, pesto and cream; and goulash, flavoured with caraway and paprika; and a whole ham, with a vegetable chilli bean casserole for the vegetarians. All were enjoyed. I love to cook and hope that your Christmas breakfast goes well.

Loving thoughts from England, Zoë xxx

  8. Sending prayers and wishes your way for the blessings of love, peace, and light.

  9. Oh dear friend! I was just dancing with happiness to see your post-I've been praying for you! You have always been an inspiration to your readers. Please keep posting when you can-you have no idea how you have helped people and you still have that same way about you. You have so much to give the world through your blog!!!!
I wish we lived next door-I'd be at your beautiful house all the time!!!!
I wish I had some amazing wonderful recipe to share with you-but-well, cooking is not one of my talents...maybe some day.
I'll be thinking of you, and hope you have fun with your camera!
    Much love, Debra

  10. I think of you a lot. Merry Christmas and better days to come.

  11. Oh I wish I lived close by -- I would love to take you shopping and even to the doctor visits. I have an elderly friend (who now lives five hours away) that I so enjoyed spending the times together when she needed to see the doctor and get her errands done. It was so much more enjoyable for the two of us to do it together. I pray God will provide for you a loving lady friend who will be there for you.

I'm finding the grieving process is long and sporadic. My 43 year old son who had many health challenges for over 20 years passed away suddenly and unexpectedly in June this year. Because of his health problems we were always very close -- with him, too, I did a lot of doctor visits and shopping to give him some assistance so he could save his strength for some things he would like to do. I not only lost a son, I lost a friend. I'm sure you feel somewhat the same about the loss of your husband. Thankfully God walks with me every day as I'm sure He does with you and He helps in handling both the sense of loss and the loneliness. My prayer is for you -- and for me -- to find the comfort we seek in His presence. Take care ... Ann

  12. Thinking of you, dear Deena on Christmas Day 2013. If we lived nearby I would visit you and bring some Christmas cookies and a scarf knitted by me. Know that you are loved and thought of.

    Hang in there, dear friend!
    Love, Karen

  13. Wishing you Peace, and Love this holiday season! I am fighting Cancer now, and think of you often as I get my treatments. I've followed your blog since the early days of your cancer. May the New Year bring you Joy!!

  14. I haven't been to your blog in awhile as I knew what you must be going through.
It is so nice to see you are posting again. It is nice your family will have brunch with you as that will lift your spirits. I have a good recipe for a breakfast casserole but it is a little late now to get it to you. My husband and me spent Christmas with just the two of us and I was feeling a bit sorry for myself when seeing all the Christmas posts of family gatherings but after reading your post. I know how much I have to be thankful for. We must never take life for granted as it can change in the twinkling of an eye.
May God continue to be with you and keep you cancer away. May he bless you this coming year.

  15. Deena,

I have thought so much about you over the months and so very happy to see you here again.
I hope you found someone to take you to the grocery store and then had a wonderful Christmas breakfast. Please take care of yourself and know that you are in my thoughts.
    xoxo Marilyn

  18. My dear sweet lady, know that I am praying for you. May this year bring you peace and new understanding. Sometimes we don't get all the answers but we can have peace come to our hearts. I just know something will come your way that will bring you happiness again!
    God Bless,
