That burnt rusty hint of pumpkin with cut outs of news in the center....it is soooooo nice to stare at! Thanks for the visual delights! GET SOME REST! church/tmr etc blah blah...

I love the granite coffee pot. Grandma had a dark blue one with white speckles.

The flag is beautiful as well. Lots of great finds at your place this week.

  5. Hi Deena, love the old stuff. Wish I had kept all mine--could have sent them to you.
My turn to ask for prayers. I posted on my blog about Gustav aiming for us. We are hunkered down and it's supposed to be a Category 1 when it hits us, so please keep us in your prayers. I have my Pay it Forwards ready, but waiting until after the storm to mail them. Love and Hugs, Pat

  11. Blog comment hijack! Delete if you feel the need Deenz, just felt led to spell out some things. Maybe cause of the amount of calls I've had from girlfriends new and old from all over the US this past month. Chiropractor's busiest times of the year are spring and fall cause our muscles react to season changes by contracting/spasming. Menopause is more disruptive during the season changes, full moons, new moons. There's a natural herbal menopausal helper at Walmarts and drug stores: Estroven. If you've had the big C or you have estrogen driven C then you shouldn't take this. It has phytoestrogens. I was and am allergic to soy right after all the surgery cause my body rejects the plant estrogens that lend themselves to making more C in me. I have to keep my weight way down because estrogen is stored in fat cells and my C was estrogen driven. Hair dyes can cause cancer.
Women in our society are convinced they should give everything they have to loved ones...that's not even biblical. In Al-Anon they teach you that if the plane is going down you don't give the other person the oxygen mask and go without, you use your own oxygen mask. We have to take care of ourselves. When we are sick or terminal our loved ones often go into denial or shut down. Psychologically if society doesn't see a wheelchair, missing limb etc. it has trouble keeping in mind that we can and may be very sick and need not only help but total rest. We can wait till they figure it out after we're dead or we can gently lead them into emotional maturity by teaching them we are mortal and not super women. It often takes a 3rd party to wake up our loved ones to the changed dynamics of our status as wives, mothers, grandmothers, daughters if we have faced or are facing a physical or emotional health challenge. Families may be able to hear another person better than they will us even when they see us crawling across the floor hurting. They love us, of course, but everyone needs to learn the new skills of a changing body or life or roles. Books to read: Women and Menopause, Understanding Grief/Helping Yourself Heal, The Healing Garden (Natural Herb healers), Prescription for Nutritional Healing, Male Menopause by Jed Diamond are all helpful books. Losing organs, breasts, uteruses, ovaries will all need to be mourned. It is a loss of part of ourselves. It takes time physically and emotionally and mentally. When you compound the loss of our physical by adding on the death/loss of a parent, child, friend, it doubles the stress and risk of getting auto-immune dis-eases. You can understand things intellectually but you still have to process them emotionally. That takes time and safety. We all need safe places to talk, to be heard. We need to be supported in our process. The last thing we need is to compete or to worry about losing income or what we've built by others being predators while we are sick. It's their problem, not ours if anyone takes opportunities unethically while we or our loved ones are sick. What we own, what size we are or are not has nothing to do with who we are. If meds make us get larger or make us get sickly thin, it is not our fault. Physically we can only control so much. We can't make anyone change unless they want to. The only thing we can change is ourselves. We deserve to be loved just the way we are. Life is fragile and no matter how many brutal reality shows teach competition, that is not reality. Kindness starts with us, to ourselves, not selfish, just plain common sense. When a body is screaming for attention you wouldn't tell another to wait so don't tell ourselves to wait. And lastly, if you can't figure out what to do, pretend you are taking care of a child or friend you love very much, pretend you are telling them what you think they should do and then take that advise. Ok, so with that I think I can go to sleep now. I just needed to make sure I honored all my gal pals that have passed by telling anyone it may help, what they wished they knew earlier. Love yourself, how you are, right where you are at. Be honest with how you feel. Find the courage if just for one day to be truly who you yearn to be, you can do it and without hurting or abandoning anyone else. If you don't know how yet, go ask experienced women counselors. Join a talk therapy group. Don't give up on your one sacred life, our very breath is a gift. We have our own one of a kind fingerprints for a reason. There is no one like us, nor will there ever be again. Cry if you need, laugh if you can, put or drag one foot in front of the other when you can. XO Church
