A Hair Update

Remember this?? Bald from chemo & a black eye from hitting my eye with the Swiffer as I was cleaning??
Here's my hair today.
I hate my side profile..LOL (I've gained weight too!UGH UGH UGH)
These two bald spots are from the Gamma Knife when my 5 brain tumors were removed. I think the 2 largest were here & that's why I don't have 5 spots. It may be permanent, but my other hair will grow over them. I still have a red spot where the "crown" for Gamma Knife was screwed to my skull. I also have two tiny holes above each eyebrow. Here's the top on my head..
The back of my head
Yep, I have hair..GRAY and GRAYER for now. Can you believe someone told me she liked my carefree hair??? LOL, she had no idea that I would NEVER EVER EVER cut my hair this short..I just said , thank you!! teehee

I caught a summer cold, sore throat, body aches, face aches, Hubby was so kind to share his with me.

  19. Hi Deena , your hair doesn't look bad at all. We are our own worst critic you know . When mine started to grow back like yours, I would towel dry it and put some stiff moose on it and comb it through and then lift it from my scalp with the comb and place it how I wanted it and let it dry in place. When it was dry I would run the pick through it and it would make it fluffy and not flat to my head. I hope this makes since to you .

Deena, I have a friend who went through chemo the other day for a brain tumor that has come back. She had the same treatment as you. You both are so very brave!!!

Love to you and have a wonderful new week, sweet friend!!! Duhgall sends his little scotty lovings your way. Hold out your toes and he will happily lick them for you!

  50. Even though you may not have chosen that "cut" it is very stylish and chic on you. I have always had straight hair with no body and your hair looks full of body and style. I think you look great. You look healthy and happy. Sorry about the cold and aches. Lots of love!

  51. Isn't hair absolutely WONDERFUL! I said I would never have another bad hair day in my life. Mine was grey like that too...You need to be careful when you color it, they told me it is like virgin hair again. Anyways...the weight, I have talked to alot of chemo women and most gain weight. I just got the ok from my doctor to try Weight Watchers. They also won't let me try anything more drastic. My hubby sayd, so what, chubby but vertical!! That's a very good thing. Enjoy your short hair. I loved spiking mine when it was short. It was so easy. In fact, by hair will probably never be as long as it was...I like the simpleness of shorter. Yeah hair!!!

    ReplyDelete
  52. so sassy! before long it will be in your face and you'll need to have it CUT - AGH!!

  53. Your hair looks great I REALLY MEAN that.....and your smile is still so wonderful.
The bald spots will fill in but for now..you can use them to tell others about what you've been though and it will encourage them.

Plus you have all those great hats to wear in the Fall and Winter again so that's neat.
I'm so thankful your doing so well...
Oh don't feel bad about being a bit more "Fluffier" than you were before...it's the meds/chemo. I have had the same thing happen to me....and I do the best I can with it as well...pain or meds...pain or meds....hummm. Not a hard choice most days. Although I hate the blowing up effects. Oh well...
    Hang in there!!
    Your doing great.

  62. Deena!
Your hair really does look very chic!

When my dad's fiance's hair grew in after chemo, she said she never received so many positive compliments from folks who didn't even know her!

It's so good to see you looking so well. You are in my thoughts and prayers every day.

hee hee... You and I share much the same profile. Hubby always catches those side shots of me and I could just beam him!

But you know what.... I look at your pictures and all I see is an amazingly beautiful woman. I think I'll try to look at myself more through God's eyes than my own from now on.

    Prayers & Hugs... *Linda*

  63. wow Deena, your hair is growing back fast. That was the hardest for me, patiently waiting to look my norm again. I think you might have the chemo curls. I still have curls but it's growing back straight again. I'll miss my curls when they are cut off. But after chemo I'm feeling I will never cut my hair again...to funny. You look good honey, you really do.
