Update June 12th Friday
it was very peaceful. Rich and I sat on the floor..she laid down
& showed her our love as she drifted off. Seemed like
less than a minute she was gone. Last night our cat
who has a SOFT voice and doesn't hardly ever meow..woke
us up . She was walking around the main level crying loudly.
I think she was missing Hannah ..as they have NEVER been apart one
night. They slept on Hannah's bed, just like that picture above.
Today is a VERY sad day for Rich and me. We made the decision to put
our beloved collie down. Hannah Hope Warner.. She can barely get around at all.
She is 13 and we have had her since she was 8 weeks old.
She's been a wonderful companion and very loving
We will miss her so much.. my heart hurts thinking of it.
Oh Deena, I am so sorry. This is such sad news. I know how much you love Hannah. I will be praying for you. She is such a good, good dog.
ReplyDeleteGentle hugs, Sharon
Deena, I'm sending my sincere sympathy. Although 13 is a long life for a big dog, it's never long enough for us, their loving humans. Even though I'm a cat person now, I had a black lab that was born in my home. He lived 12 marvelous years, protecting me and my children from an abusive ex-husband. To this day, my son, who's now 35, still has Tippy's collar in his memory box.
ReplyDeleteNot long ago, we lost one of our cats to lymphoma. We still grieve his passing so I know your loss will take time to come to grips with. Honor Hannah's life with love and pride.
Hugs to you.
JoJo
How sad and difficult for you and your husband. It is not an easy task ... what a beautiful dog in that picture.
ReplyDeleteDeena and Rich, I am so sad to hear that you have to put sweet Hannah down. She will cross the Rainbow Bridge and will be with you again someday in Heaven. She had a lovely life with you and is so blessed to call you her family.
ReplyDelete((big hugs)),
Becky
Deena: I am so sorry to hear this about your beloved pet! I am a pet lover too and can relate to this kind of pain! I have been there too. Our pets are like our children, members of our family for sure. I will pray for you as you go through this extremely difficult time.
ReplyDeleteLou Cinda :)
Oh Deena..I'm so sorry. It's sooooo hard to be in that position and have to make that decision. I put a pet down almost 10 years ago after having him for 13 years....it was the hardest thing I had to do and I still grieve for him. The events of that day are forever etched in my mind.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure Hannah gave you some wonderful memories.
I know just how you feel Deena. I just had to do the same for my Dobe--she was 12 and ill.
ReplyDeleteBig hug to you sweetie, that's tough one, sometimes the right thing hurts more!!! Remember all the good times and use those for strength.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Margaret B
Oh Deena, I'm so sorry. My heart aches for you. I've been down that road before, and it's not an easy one. The last time was my beloved horse Laredo... she was so old and had no teeth to eat with anymore. The vet came out and we walked my beloved Laredo down to the woods to her final resting place. I'm thankful it was a calm and peaceful goodbye, and she went to sleep with her head in my lap. Now, I face the same thing you are with our beloved Abe. He's having trouble getting around now and one of these days I'll be where you are today. Please know I share your hurt today. I'll be praying for you.
ReplyDeleteLove Lea
So sorry Deena. I have had to do it and I know how it hurts.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear that. We humans (and pets too) are designed to attach, not to say goodbye. Tough decision, but I think you know what is best. Thinking of you, take care.
ReplyDeleteDeena, Oh, I'm so sorry. Tears run down my face as I write this. It doesn't seem that anything hurts worse than losing a pet and the decision is SO hard. I'll be thinking of you today and praying for you and your beloved dog.
ReplyDeleteOh Deena,
ReplyDeleteMy heart goes out to you and Rich. I know your decision was not an easy one to make.
You both are in my prayers and in my thoughts through this difficult time.
Lots of hugs coming your way, and I will pray that Lord will wrap you in his and comfort you, Julie
We made the hard decision to put down both of our beloveds last year and it is so hard to go through life without them. Constant companions and friends they were to us. I pray your girl finds comfort in God's house and finds her way to my beloved Jazzmine and Boodles. They can play together as they wait on those they love. Blessings and prayers for your comfort.
ReplyDeleteI think she'll be running and playing in heaven while she waits for her people to come.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Susan
Deena, I am so sorry about your pet. I know from experience how much a part of your family a pet becomes and how it hurts to lose one.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry for you to have to say good bye. My prayers are with you today :(
ReplyDeleteSo sorry for the loss of your family member. What a beautiful dog. Just imagine all the pets that we have had to say goodbye to over the years, that have brought us so much love and happiness, someday when we enter the kingdom on Heaven, they will all come running to meet us, and probably knock us over there will be so many of them. So sad for the people who have never had a pet, they will not be greated by warm wet kisses.
ReplyDeleteBlessings~Cheryl
I'm So Sorry Deena, What a hard decision that had to be..... I will keep you & your Family in Prayer for Comfort & Sweet Memories ~

It is the hardest decesion any owner ever has to make about their trusted companions. I am the one who stays inside with the vet and holds their head as they go to forever land. Peace be with you.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear this, Deena--I know how much it hurts, as we had to do the same with our Golden Retriever years ago, and I also lost my little Yorkie when he was hit by a car. Our pets are part of our family, and we grieve when we have to say goodbye to them, but I feel that they will be waiting for us in heaven, and we will see them again one day. Love, Jann
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear what a tough thing you're going through! Life is just so hard sometimes and time goes by way too fast! Karen
ReplyDeleteDear Deena, i am sorry to hear that,i know how you feel today. Praying for you and your husband to be strong to overcome your grieving.
ReplyDeleteOh Deena!
ReplyDeleteI send you lots of love & hugs....we had to make the decision to do the same to our 14 yo cocker spaniel & my constant companion a few months ago...what a hard thing....know they are in a better place & waiting for you..I'll be emailing you something special I received from a fellow blogger :)
Hugs,
lisa
Oh Deena. I'm so sorry for you! What a sad thing you two have had to bear. Know that we are all hugging you. ((hugs))
ReplyDeleteBlessings... Polly
Im so sorry. Our little one passed this past February on my b-day and it still hurts me. But your dear one will be waiting for you at the Rainbow Bridge ready to give you plenty of kisses. Hugs to you.
ReplyDeleteMy heart breaks for you
ReplyDeleteDear Deena...it has to be one of the hardest things and I'm sorry you have to go through this. It would be a little easier if our pets would go in their sleep, but even that is still very difficult. When their time comes, you can see it in their eyes. I've had my share and it never get easier. May you cherish the memories made with her and may God comfort you through it all.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry. I know what you are going through. 'Run Free Sweet Hannah'

Sweet Deena...
ReplyDeleteHard Decision...For a Loyal Friend...I feel it's a shame they can't be with us Always and Forever...
My heart is with you my Friend...
Always...M
Oh it is so difficult to first make the decision, then to put a pet down. I haven't had a dog for a long time, but we have had several dear cat friends to put down. I cried and cried. We have a cemetary in our backyard with a special plant and statue of a cat sitting in the garden as a remembrance. My heart goes out to you.
ReplyDeleteDeena,
ReplyDeleteI am truly sorry for you loss, when my Mom had to put her Buffy, a little miniature dachshund down it broke her heart, she told my children cause they were so young when that happened, after all the "Why's Grandma" she told them, "I guess Jesus just needed some help keeping all kitty's out of his garden" I loved it and never have forgotten that, and that's just how I look it at it now, Jesus just needed a little help in his garden.... I love you and I'm so sorry for the pain your going through.
Hugs & LOVE~
Annette
Oh Deena, that's one of the hardest things! She'll be waiting at the rainbow bridge.

So, so sad to read this post. It is comforting to know you were with her until the end.
ReplyDeleteDearest Deena ~ I am so sorry for your loss! Losing a pet is very difficult and I know how you and Rich must be feeling....kitty too. Remember, now your dog is whole again and without pain.
ReplyDeleteAll my love and sympathy,
Karen
So sorry, Deena.
ReplyDeleteSo, so sorry. Our relationships with our furry family members go deeper than words, straight between our hearts and theirs. I know you'll miss her terribly.
ReplyDeleteIf you have someone you love near you for 100 years it is not enough. I grieve with you for your darling Hannah. I've walked in your shoes too many times in the past and will walk in your shoes again because I cannot bear to live life without my animals. Sending much love...
ReplyDeleteWords can not convey all I wish to say to you....
ReplyDeleteThe loss of a beloved pet is gut wrenching and heart wrenching.... in 2006 I lost my American bull dog Pepper.... so I can feel all that you are feeling.... it took me two years before I was able to bring PJ home... animals bring such comfort when it is needed and love us so unconditionally.... I hope your heart mends...
Keeping you and yours in my thoughts and prayers
HUGS

No words....just hugs.

Deena,
ReplyDeleteYou made the right choice. She was a loyal companion to you and Rich and when it was time for her to cross Rainbow Bridge, you loved her as she made her way there.
We still miss Meeko. He will always have a special place in our hearts, as Hannah will in yours. However, Dakota keeps us busy and helps us heal.
Love you, my friend. Am praying for you.
Blessings,
Mary
Oh my, this is so sad. We love our pets and have been through this too. I know it will take days for you to start to feel better. We do carry the sweet memories of our furry friends...forever.
ReplyDelete2 weeks ago we had to put down our little Scout who we rescused almost 10 years ago...even though we have 2 other Jack Russell's..the house is very quiet without him. I miss that little guy and so share your sorrow...
ReplyDeleteDeb
Deena, I know just how you are feeling....when our beloved pets are gone-it leaves such a hole in our hearts.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it odd-I have not visited in a while-but yesterday my heart just had some twitters for you. So I prayed. I know God loves your sweetheart dog, and He will take good care...
Much, much love

My heart is sad as I read this, I think the bond we form with our animal babies is more than the heart can stand in times like these, I am sorry for you loss, Blessings, Janna
ReplyDeleteTonight has been Rainbow bridge night for me. Once in a blue moon lost their beloved Tucker. Now I read your loss Deena. I'm so sorry. I have been there many times before. My comfort is having my little pet cemetery in my yard under a little tree. I talk to them everyday and water the special flowers that grow around them.
ReplyDeleteTime will heal, but it takes time. P.J. is 12 (one of 4 dogs), just went through a stone operation, and pulled through with flying colors. I pray that God gives us many more years with him.
BTW I love your hair color. Grey is nice, but you look so much younger. You look beautiful.
Love Claudie
