Today I am Gramma Deena

and loving it.
It's MLK ..so the guys had no school
We talked about who Martin Luther King Jr.
was ..and what he did..what he stood for...his famous
speech..even what was on his headstone.  The guys
knew alot!! AMEN, school teaches something
meaningful!!

Cole, that lil guy is my middle daughter's
first boy ( he's 6, bday is 7/30)
and Joe, the guy with front teeth missing
is my son's 3rd son (he's 7, bday is 7/26)
I even put make up on.

 The weekend was quiet,
Saturday I woke up with a "funny tummy" & dizziness,
but it went away by the afternoon.

 Sunday
I finished putting the Christmas junk away, that I'd just taken
down and sat on the dining room table.
Rich took the tree down & to the basement.

One more lil bit of Christmas in my "computer"
room needs to be packed up..and I'm done!
YIPPEE..I didn't think it would happen, but
it got to be too much clutter..I wanted it DOWN.

Another fun part of my day was
on the phone for the first time.  Oh we hit it right off!!
She's a dear.

I'm going to see Dear Dr. Jones tomorrow
to have him look at the spot on my tummy
that keeps pulling back open..don't think
my Oncologist will start chemo till
it's healed..and I'm ready to fight the fight
and get on with this journey!!

Fondly, deena

ps..we have a MOUSE running around here, I think
the boys are skeered of it , but won't admit it.
Mya my FAT cat, better get BUSY!!

PSS
After the boys leave, I'm taking a nap
AND
it just started  SNOWING !!

  1. What fun to have the boys over. I didn't realise you had a holday for Martin Kuther King until I heard it ion the radio this morning when they were talking about the stockmarket stuff(stuff I don't understand). He was an amazing man.
Good luck at the Doctors today and hopefully you will be able to get into your chemo real soon. How wonderful for you to have talked with Amy. She is one strong girl. She had a fun time at Annas.

  2. Ugh - mice! We had a horrible problem a few months back. No cat to gobble them up. But persistence won!! Amy really is wonderful and I'm so glad the two of you are talking. I was just wondering the morning if you two had emailed. About your tummy... my son had a bad accident a few years back and had a non-healing wound for about 6 months. The home-nurses told me to sprinkle powdered protein (like the musclemen use) on his food. Unfortunately for him, it required quite a lot more than that BUT if your wound isn't deep, the nurses swear by using protein. Blessings...Polly

  5. Good Afternoon Deena,
Well, I must say, you are a BEAUTIFUL GRAMMA. Yes you are indeed. I know you enjoyed having the boys spend the day with you. Our girls were out of School as well, but it wasn't because of MLK Day, it was Teacher's Workshop. They just both happen to fall on the same day. Girlfriend, I still have my tree and decorations up. LOL. Shhhh, I can't help it. I just don't want to take them down. I will tho, hopefully before the month is up. LOL. Hopefully Dr. Jones can tell you something about the sore on your Belly. Still praying for you my sweet friend. God will see you thru this. He is always there for us even if we don't think he is at times. I do hope you get a good nap. I love Naps. LOL. Never too old for a nap. You got Snow? Where or where is my Snow? LOL. They say we may get some freezing rain tonight. I just don't think we could get that lucky. LOL. Take care my friend and have a great evening. May God Bless You and Yours. I'm glad you was able to talk to your friend Amy.

    Love & Hugs,
    Karen H.

  6. Deena, What precious Grandsons you have! I love all the photos. It's wonderful seeing you smile...What a beautiful Gal you are.
I too got to spent the day with my Grandson. His name is Samuel and he's 7. How this little guy can make this Grammy smile! Looks like we both are very blessed to have these little guys in our lives.
I sure hope your tummy heals soon. When I had a lump removed from my breast it took over 6 weeks to heal! Part of it stayed opened for most of that time.
Glad you got to talk to Amy.. Shes such a sweetheart, just like you. She called me last night and we got to chat about her vacation.
Hope your Doctor visit goes well tomorrow.
    Hugs & much love ~Mary~

  9. Deena,

What lovely photos. You look much more rested than the last photo I saw and the boys are darlings. Aren't grandsons neat? So many fun things to do with them.

We don't have much snow here, but do have a little. It warmed up today but the weekend was exceptionally COLD.

I HATE mice. We had a problem with them a few years ago and now this winter also. I think it's because the city tore out a LOT of shrubbery in the park across the street. Even mice have to have somewhere to live. We don't have a cat, but the mice aren't in the main part of the house, but are in the basement and pantry. We have spent a fortune on poison, but they keep coming bac.

Hope your cat gets the mouse and that you don't have any more problem with them.

Enjoy your nap and be sure to get LOTS of rest.

    Love and blessings,
    Mary

  10. nice to spend a great day with the "Boys"...glad you had the opportunity to share a little...take a few pictures and have a general good time...
if you get to enjoy those beautiful singing woods... you have to pay the price with a little old mouse once in a while!!!
I'm praying that the Dr. will be able to fix up your tummy scar tomorrow so you can proceed with the chemo on schedule...

  11. You look great....... and are those grand babies too cute... I look forward to the day that I have grandbabies..... I think I will make a great grandmother.... I still have my wreaths on the outside of the house and need to take them down.......maybe this weekend......... You take it easy and yes I would be wanting to get on with that chemo..... get this done and on with life.........

    Mal 4:2
But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall. !!!!

I love that scripture..... I see Him rising high above us with those eyes watching...... always watching over us to bring healing.... I believe.....
